KV Krishnaprasad’s book, Unjust Enrichment and Countervailing Obligations (Hart 2025), was published today.

The book examines the relationship between the law of unjust enrichment and legal obligations arising from other branches of the law. It seeks to offer a clear, simple and cogent explanation for this complex relationship by applying insights from the theory of unjust enrichment to cases from England, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa and the United States of America.

In his foreword to the book, Lord Burrows says:

Throughout, the rigour and depth of the analysis are an example to all of us. The author is not only a master of the details of the decided English case law but draws on comparative law and philosophical writings to develop and explain his views. The issues he discusses are of fundamental importance to our understanding of the law of unjust enrichment.

All academics and students with an interest in the common law, and especially in the law of unjust enrichment, will benefit from reading this book. It will also be of considerable assistance, in providing an invaluable guide, to solicitors, barristers and judges alike who may have to grapple with these issues in practice”.

The book is available here in hardback and e-book formats.
