Ahead of International Women’s Day on 8 March, One Essex Court’s recent initiatives in support of the advancement and encouragement of women in law have included:
- Our long-running Women at the Commercial Bar programme, which offered potential applicants considering a career at the Commercial Bar the opportunity to take part in (i) a live Q&A event with female members of chambers, and (ii) a pupillage interview workshop this academic year.
- Being proud signatories to the Women in Law Pledge, created by the Bar Council of England and Wales, The Law Society, and the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, reflecting our commitment to the progress of equality and the elimination of sex discrimination, and Chambers’ pledge to make positive change for the legal profession.
- Hosting inspiring female-focused networking events which take place on a regular basis.
Over the past 12 months, we have announced Sonia Tolaney KC as Joint Head of Chambers and the appointment of Michelle Menashy as a new Silk.
